After two days sailing through some of the busiest waters in the world we made it to Johor Bahru, Malaysia - Danga Bay Marina to be exact. The Malaysian Sailing Rally doesn't start till November 9th so we had plenty of time to do some exploring. We spent a full day exploring the shockingly modern town of JB - giant shopping malls, trendy streets, and all sorts of American name brands. A shock to the system after 3 months of Indonesia!
Here's our new home in Danga Bay Marina. It's pretty fancy - hot water showers, wifi, and laundry service! Oooohhhh!
Walking around downtown Johor Bahru we found Little India, which was in full swing for the holiday Deepavali!
There was a huge street festival with henna tattoos, eye brow threading, eating and shopping of course!
And of course there were Rangoli decorations around - designs made with colored rice!
Rejects for sale! Good for nothing unemployed rejects for sale!
Omar and Clement in front of the next new trend - shipping containers recycled into cafes. Food trucks are soooo last year!
What a brilliant idea - pencil graffiti! I wonder if you would get in trouble for this in America?! Hmmm . . .
We ended our day with some fresh mango juice on the hippest little street in Johor Bahru. We decided to head to SIngapore the very next day so stay tuned for my upcoming post on how awesome Singapore is!
