After ending the Indonesian Sailing Rally, we headed to Singapore. Singapore is a modern and progressive city, quite a shock to the senses after three months in Indonesia. Here are some pictures of this futuristic city.
Here is the view from Gardens by the Bay. The giant wheel is the Singapore Eye and the electric trees are to the right.
There is a platform to walk across the trees but we opted not to go on it. The trees are part of a show where they change color and intensity along a musical score. Best part is it was free!
This is a fancy hotel and casino with a spaceship on top of it. It gives the city its futuristic vibe.
Here is the inside of the hotel. Rooms lined up row upon row. Too bad we didn't make it to the gardens at the top.
The next day we went to the Night Safari. The night started with a fire breathing show!
The Night Safari was lots of fun, but a photographic flop. You try telling them critters to stand still while I do a hand held 1/2 second exposures.
This rare cave critter was my only willing and obedient model at the safari.
Here she is found again hanging from another cave and pretending to be a mermaid - a hoop aerialist mermaid that is.
We made some friends in Singapore and they invited us to a BBQ at the park. Side activities included slack lines and fire juggling! Here is Luke doing some fire poi.
Here is Karen with a flaming hula hoop.
The next day we went to Haw Par Village. This place is like a bad trip. Ali has a post dedicated to this place. I will just give you a taste with turtles and toads riding ostriches.
A remembrance of the great bunny and rat war that shook up the land. The squirrels were just caught in the middle.
And it just gets trippier and weirder. Not suitable for children.
Can you eat that booger in a single sitting?
She is not found hanging in caves and hoops but under bridges as well.
Here is my artsy picture of the day to say goodbye. See you back in Malaysia.
