Omar, the skipper, and I left the small village of Maurole after spending four nights anchored there so we could head off to Kelimutu National Park. We had a fantastic time heading into the mountains on scooters again and only two near death experiences while riding (that's pretty good if you ask me), but other than our two day trip to Kelimutu, the town was incredibly small and sleepy. I am sad to say that Jill, Olivia and Orla have jumped ship to join Bill on his boat . . . new love for one of the girls . . . oohhh la la la . . . and a package deal for the other two.
Here was our view while cruising to Maurole.
And here was our anchorage at the town of Maurole.
We ordered papaya from some local boys in a canoe with the few Indonesian words we know and it worked!!!
Just by good luck, we arrived in town the day before the weekly market! We were able to stock up on fruit and vegis!
A row of water buffalo escaping the mid-day heat. Everyday is a scorcher and we aren't even at the equator yet!!!
Our taxi ride to the only restaurant around for lunch . . . in the next town over.
Just in case you wanted to see what a squat toilet looks like. This one is missing the hose, aka the toilet paper, so I guess the green bucket doubles as a self cleanser and a flusher. (Really - we all walk around with toilet paper in our purse!)

Are you bored of looking at amazing sunsets yet?
Two of the three lakes at Kelimutu National Park. Not only are the lakes different colors, but they change colors randomly and without notice. They have been red and black at different times.
Don't take one more step back . . .
From the left - Orla, Bill, Olivia, Omar, me - the viewing point at the top of Kelimutu National Park.
Our sweet ecolodge near Kelimutu where we dined and stayed for the night.
Orla, Jill, Olivia, Bill and I starting the night off right at the ecolodge! We payed more for a bottle of wine than we did for our room!
Rice paddies on the way to/from Kelimutu.
The still smoking Volcano, Palu Island, that exploded a couple of weeks ago killing 6.
